While Friday will mark the first meeting all-time between Franklin Pierce and Midwestern State University, there is plenty of history between the two Universities as well. MSU has served as host of two of Franklin Pierce’s three most successful postseason runs. The University served as host of the 2005 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Soccer Semifinals in which the Ravens advanced made its first National Championship match appearance in program history, falling to Fort Lewis (Colo.) University, 3-1. The Mustangs also hosted Franklin Pierce’s only appearance in the NAIA Nationals in 1987 before the Ravens made the move to Division II the following year.
