U20 US National Soccer Team

Tuesday, July 31, 2007 by BrasilianFutebol

The U20 National Team is making an impact. THey beat Poland handily, shocked Brazil the four time champion and then the US U20 Men’s National Team have moved into the Quarterfinal after defeating Uruguay .
THe US Team posesses skill, speed and chemistry. Freddie Adu is a scoring threat every time he steps on th field and the squad runs deep as substitues fill rolls capably and add something to the play of the game.
It's nice to see. I hope this generation can raise the bar a little further and make the US a known soccer power on a level with the South Americans and Europeans.

Developing mad soccer skills

Sunday, July 29, 2007 by BrasilianFutebol

Juggling is an art. Master the soccer ball: become a ball-meister and you will see huge difference in your game. It's fun, it can be a great work out and it can translate on to the field in amazing ways.

Developing touch, familiarity with the ball, dexterity, kinestetic awareness can raise your level of play exponetially.

It is not so much about how many touches you can accomplish while juggling a ball as much as what you can do with the ball. Being able to juggle 100 or 500 times is an awesome feat and helps with focus and concentration. But really the game of soccer is about being able to make the ball do what you want it and need it to do; being able to settle the ball in tight spots, touch a ball over the head of an oncoming defender, or bending it gently through a space on to the foot of a teammate thereby beating a double team or an offsides trap.
Juggle to develop touch while at the same time making the ball do what you want it to do. For example, work on certain touches until you master them, such as, touching the ball no higher than knee level with every touch (develops quick feet and soft touch), or touch a ball 8 feet in the air, no higher or lower, with every touch and make sure you alternate feet ( develops rythm and balance and touch). Or how about catchin the ball on various parts of your body such as on the back of your neck, between your heal & buttock, and/or on the laces of your boot.
Give it a try.

Becoming a proficient juggler with a soccer ball can help improve soccer performance. Juggling with a soccer ball using feet, thighs and all parts legal in the game of soccer is a fun way to practice and hone skills through repetition. Soccer Skills; Juggling to develop eye/foot, balance

Tuesday, July 24, 2007 by BrasilianFutebol

Juggling is a great way to develop skills needed in the game of soccer. Developing the ability to strike the ball properly and consistently , enough to keep a soccer ball alive and in the air can help players hone eye/foot coordination - passing and traping, and develop confidence on the ball that is needed to find success.
It's not as simple as just learning how to juggle. Normal training is required for fitness, decision making and to sharpen all the movements, agility and mechanics involved in the game of soccer. But time spent with the ball juggling can be extremely beneficial as a compliment to all the fine skills needed to play at a high level.
Using a smaller ball like the Brasilian Futebol or even a tennis ball can accelerate progress and sharpen eye-foot coordination as well as develop balance, quick feet and touch on the ball. After becoming accomplished as a juggler with a small ball you will find it much easier to control and manipulate a normal ball.

Brasilian Futebol

Saturday, July 7, 2007 by BrasilianFutebol

Brazilian soccer again captures the interest of players and coaches worldwide with their flair, skill on and off the ball, attacking skills and beauty thay bring out of the game. The Brazilian style of play was is so unique that traditional soccer fans everywhere take notice. Rather than the long, predictable passes and running, the Brazilians virtually dance down the field, moving the ball quickly with short passes and constant movement. Their game had a rhythm and grace that seem natural; it seems as though this is the way the game should be played.

Soccer Equipment; Training with smaller balls

Friday, July 6, 2007 by BrasilianFutebol

Training with smaller balls such as the brasilian futebol is great for developing soccer skills and mechanics such as quick feet, eye foot coordination, foot dexterity with the ball and overall confidence with the ball. Players must focus on a smaller object and the brasilian futebol is ideal because it is weighted to better approximate a regulation 5 soccer ball and the brasilian futebol is bouncy forcing players to develop a soft touch in order to control the ball.
Using small balls to technical training and in small games will make a differnce in the overall skill level of soccer players especially in the way they recieve the ball and their first touch.
